This is the original case version or “einheitshulsen” and dated from around 1875 as a target rifle. It was listed in the 1877 Utendoerffer catalog and all subsequent Utendoerffer/RWS catalogs until WW1. (see also 10 X 52R MB LORENZ (Dixon Ref. MB111). When listed in the original 1877 catalogue it was referred to as “Kummer’s Einheitshülse”. Kummer was a gunmaker from Dresden during the 1870’s. The modern version on the right was by Horneber.
