The accepted history of the 8.2 x 66 Russian semi-rimmed case according to the IAA Forum is that it was developed around 1931 by D.M. (Dmitry) Kochetov. It was used solely as a hunting round and originally loaded with round nosed lead bullets, with soft nose and FMJ bullets offered afterwards. (Dixon Ref SV9).
