A 32 caliber has always been seen a too light for serious self defence with the 380 a much better option, even more so today with the serious quality sub-compact handguns available. Even so, the case could be made that for certain firearm owners, especially ladies in some instances, recoil on a 380 Auto can still be a problem, so in 2002, North American Arms together with Cor-Bon introduced the .32 NAA chambered in their Guardian series of 32 ACP and 380 ACP pistols. The idea was to neck down the 380 Auto to .32 caliber for a more managed recoil/increased stopping power, much like SIG did with the 357 SIG from the 40 S&W case. The idea just did not sell with the shooting public and the 32 NAA is all but discontinued today.
