Introduced by Colt in 1875 for their New Line revolvers, the 32 Long Colt was developed with the conversion from the old 32 Long rimfire to center fire, much like the old 38 Long Colt Navy. Original loadings were black powder, outside lubricated, but these cartridges did not survive for long, probably up to around 1895 as the move to inside lubricated bullets was finalised in 1897 when all Frankford Arsenal production of the 38 Navy was switched to inside lubricated bullets.
