9mm ACTION EXPRESS

The 9mm AE is based on the 41 AE necked down to 9mm and was also developed by Evan Whildin from Action Arms. It was launched as an experimental round in 1988, a year or so after the introduction of the 41 AE, and precedes the 357 SIG by almost six years. It did not attain any significant commercial success and was made in limited quantities. One of the main reasons was basically the same as for the 9mm Dillon – the early idea was a 9mm round making major power factor for IPSC competitions, with major power factor set at 175. When the limit was reduced to 160, there was no real need for these heavy hitting rounds anymore, as the 38 Super and it variants did everything that was needed.
