8 X 72R BRENNEKE

The 8x72R Brenneke was a popular European sporting caliber designed for drilling rifles was based on the English 360 Express case. It was originally listed as the 8.1x72B (for Brenneke) and believed to have been first produced by RWS/Utendoerffer with the “D.R.G.M. 96541”, headstamp, which was a form of German patent. The #96541 was registered by Brenneke of Leipzig on March 29, 1898. It was listed by various European manufacturers. (Dixon Ref. W12)
