Another development by Winchester for the Model 1886 rifle. The 38-56 was introduced in 1897 but was never popular and disappeared from the scene around 1910.

The specimen 2nd from the right is the “COORS” headstamp and the last specimen is the one made from 45-70 Govt brass. Cartridge manufacturers discontinued the 38-56 WCF in the early 1930’s and cartridges were made from 45 Government cases.
